Our caregivers also undergo regular training, ensuring they are equipped not only to meet the diverse health needs of our clients but also to provide emotional and social support such as with dementia clients.

Compassion Network Home Care is a locally-owned, private provider of home care services. Normally, you will need to have funding in place to access our services.

Common Home Care Funding Sources

• Self-funded through retirement planning/savings, investments, or other private pay means
• Private insurance coverage such as through Blue Cross, Manulife, Sunlife, Canada Life
• Self Managed Care through Alberta Health Services (AHS)
• Client Directed Home Care program through Alberta Health Services (AHS), administered by Alberta Blue Cross
• Veterans Independence Program (VIP) through Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC)

Home Care is typically not funded by:

• Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH)
• Alberta Seniors Benefit

We sure are! Compassion Network is accredited by Accreditation Canada since 2020. Accreditation Canada is an independent, non-profit organization that accredits health care organizations that meet their standards in quality, safety, and efficiency.

Employees of Compassion Network are bonded and insured to meet the requirements of Alberta Health Services. All employees must undergo a police information check with a vulnerable sector search.

• Our care services are available 24 hours, 7 days a week
• Administrative hours are everyday, including weekends and holidays, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

To reach us after hours, call 1-877-432-1676 and press extension 3 for triaging. Please note that calls deemed non-urgent will be returned the next business day.

We ensure that all of our caregivers have the necessary training whether a Health Care Aide certificate or higher education. We base the choice on compatible personalities and skill level. All of our Health Care Aides are registered with the Alberta HCA directory.

LPN Nurses provide services such as :

• Dress wounds and wound care
• Administer medications out of scope of a Health Care Aide (Narcotics)
• Injections (e.g. Insulin, Intramuscular, Subcutaneous, Intravenous, PICC, etc.)
• Deliver health education programs
• Assessments

Health Care Aides:

• Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing and other personal hygiene activities
• Assist with feeding patients
• Assist with bed transfers, lifting, turning and walking
• Assist with range of motion exercises
• Assist with simple wound care, respiratory equipment use or urinary care
• Report on patient condition to the nurse
• Assist patients to take their medications
• Communicate with patients
• Take and record vital signs

Yes! Compassion Network Home Care is an authorized provider for Alberta Blue Cross, including AHS' Client Directed Home Care program, and can direct bill for most services.

Providing you with consistent, quality (non-rushed) care is important to us. Our minimum hours for home care service is 3 hours weekly.

There is typically no charges for cancellations made with advance notice. Fees may apply for cancellations made within 48 hours of a scheduled service time.
